Lately I've been a little obsessive over pleated skirts and fishnets. Both are from American Apparel, and my top is old F21. It's a little harder wearing [normal] outfits like these now that I'm home for the summer (even though I'm 19) because my parents still think that short skirts and fishnets are "slutty." 

"It's okay, you just don't understand style" is my extremely juvenile response I usually give them. I guess we both need to be a little more progressive.

These were taken last fall, shortly after I got my job as a sales associate at American Apparel downtown. I was very excited about my lips print, and at the time, I posted some instagram photo of myself in this outfit saying something about how "femininity rules" mainly because there's lips on my shirt and lips=femininity. 

I've been feeling many feminist things lately, and I've also been feeling bummed about my lack of voice in that department. That's why I'm back to this little blog. I'd say I'm still in the early stages of being a feminist (even after a few years of identifying with the label), where I'm constantly reminded of little things in media and in the streets of my place in culture as a ~woman~. I'd like to say that people who have been feminist for the greater portions of their lives grow an even *greater* awareness that makes it possible for her/him to not always feel so anguished by feminism's acknowledgment of social issues pertaining to women, but there's another part of me that also acknowledges that those anguished feelings might lessen, but will never go away.

I'm still young, so I'm still figuring things out.

Here's the graduate collection of the designer Alexandra Poppy McGrady, who's currently working in the menswear department at Burberry Prorsum. I found it on used magazine, and I was immediately smitten. The clothes speak for themselves I think, but the art direction and styling (and everything, really) on this photoshoot for the collection is so very inspiring to me.

I can't handle this.

Bjorg's recent release of their s/s '13 jewelry collection and lookbook is so baffling to me right now. It's amazing how the dramatic photography manages to not take away from the designs. First you notice the stunning composition, then your eyes wander to that necklace shining through the darkness of these pictures. What a reaction this brought me! The images bring a 15th century, renaissance-y aesthetic to mind, while still maintaining relevance and modernity with the clear, digital images and use of photoshop.

Round of applause! Now where can I get the money for those glasses?

So many different interesting elements thrown at me at once! The white soles, draped jackets, hints of leather, beautiful models, clean lines, interesting fabrics.. (like I know the name to any of them... one day I'll take a fashion course and learn fancy fabric names?!) All in all, I can dig it.

Yeah all opinions are subjective, but it should be a fact that this collection is nothing short of amazing. What even. These pictures are taken from Studded Hearts, and after scrolling through her post of the entire collection I was like WHAT.

The first ensemble is my favorite. The red trousers are like a slap in the face compared to the rest of the more subtle tones throughout the other pieces. Clearly I'm not fashion journalist or anything like that, but the simple beauty of these outfits are really visually appealing. The obnoxious cropped flare trousers and the fact that the dark browns and blacks seamlessly flow with the pastels really just tickles my fancy right now. If only I had da $$$$$$
